Weißenbach Gorge near Jadersdorf in the Gitschtal

The path through the gorge is exciting, as high ladders must be climbed – only for those without fear of heights! The ravine vegetation is diverse, and here the hiker can observe how springs gush from the mountain. The descents via the forest roads are easy; when hiking down towards the southeast, a look into the past is possible by visiting the so-called Kappele.
Suggestion
Interesting tuff formations and special ravine vegetation can be admired here.
Equipment
Normal hiking equipment and good hiking shoes.
Directions

If you come from Villach/Hermagor or Italy: From the South Motorway A2, Hermagor exit, continue on B111 to Hermagor. From Hermagor continue towards Weißbriach. Jadersdorf is just before Weißbriach.

If you come from Weißensee: Drive via Kreuzberg to Weißbriach, then continue towards Hermagor to Jadersdorf.

Directions

From Jadersdorf, the village with its beautiful floral decorations, we first hike on tarmac on trail 210 towards Hermagor/Osten. Immediately after crossing the stream, we leave trail 210 to the left on trail no. 19. Interesting rock formations show that the gorge is not far away. We see beautiful waterfalls cascading over tuff formations. Several footbridges make it easier to continue. At the top, the gorge narrows and high rock steps are climbed over ladders. Stag's tongue fern is very well represented. After the exit, take the forest path on the left back to Jadersdorf or turn right (path 19a), past the so-called Kappele (settlement from late antiquity) back to path 210.
