Nature trail & water adventure path Rattendorf

The nature trail and the water adventure path invite you to a leisurely hike and "experience nature" on the approximately 4.5 km long circular route, with display panels.

The experience panels are designed to meet the expectations of many visitors and nature lovers for text and image information in an appealing way. Interesting facts about the natural and cultural history of a location are meant to lead all the senses to discover nature and to sustainably imprint the experienced.

Several seating areas along the path invite you to relax and observe nature.

Equipment

Everyone can pack their backpack individually, but the following should always be included!

- good hiking or mountain shoes, snacks, drinks, rain protection, headgear, sunscreen, warm jacket, hiking pole

Directions

Arrival via the B111 to the village of Jenig. In Jenig (directly at the gas station), turn towards Rattendorf. The nature trail at the water adventure path begins directly after the bridge.

The nature trail

The nature trail is intended as an inspiration to discover the region’s cultural landscape in even more detail, especially the habitats of the many different animals and plants in this area. The information displays provide illustrative presentations about nature and environment and serve as educational material about nature’s processes, situations and capabilities. The aim of the nature trail Rattendorf is, to increase awareness for the environment as well as to convey and expand the knowledge of all visitors, whilst they enjoy nature and relaxation.

The aqua adventure trail

Hazards caused by floods and the measures taken to protect from floods are also strikingly illustrated. Furthermore, existing habitats and the effective usage of water in the village of Rattendorf is explained on seven lectern displays and many information boards. The adventure trail is complemented by several cul-de-sacs, which lead to the river Gail, to the torrent and avalanche barriers at the Doberbach stream and the fish farm, for example.
